Potter Light Dragoon Saber

This hefty saber was produced at the Maiden Lane workshops of New York cutler James Potter. It was originally made under contract with the Inspector General of Provincial (American) forces in British service, Loyalist Alexander Innes. But it is known that captured or smuggled "Potter swords" were also used by Continental troops, such as the Lee's Legion.

The "Potter" is the only maker-marked American made saber which use by both sides during the American Revolution is documented.
